Freddie Stancil was a man loved by everyone who knew him. He especially loved his family, teaching them to hunt and fish has always been the Stancil way of life.
Our hope is to honor him through this Turkey Event year after year and know that he is watching over us with a big "thumbs up."
Teams of two, Entry fee $350 per team ($175 per person)
Each participant will receive a free hat if they choose to attend the gathering after. Entry tickets include dinner after the event.
Sign ups are available now through April 10th, 2025 at 11:59PM.
Birds will be scored by the NWTF standards. Please visit https://www.nwtf.org/the-lifestyle/turkey-records-home if you would like to view how your bird will be scored.
1st Place: Overall winners for harvesting the largest bearded turkey with the highest score.
2nd Place: Team with the second highest bearded turkey score.
3rd Place: Team with the third highest bearded turkey score.
Largest bearded hen: The team with the highest scoring bearded hen.
Participants should abide by the North Carolina Wildlife Federation rules when hunting. Only birds harvested in North Carolina will be eligible for weigh in.
Each bird will be weighed and scored one time only. You will have the opportunity to watch our team score your bird. Birds will not be weighed again before the awards.
If you harvest a bird, you are to report to the office immediately for weigh in. Please refer to the "Day of Important Info" section for more information on this. Birds should be tagged by the time you arrive.
Only one team will be allowed inside the scoring room at a time. Other's will be instructed to wait outside for their turn to be scored.
Once you arrive to the property, you will be asked to fill out your hunting license and Tag #. Please have these items with you. Birds without signed waivers from the team members will not be qualified for the event.
- The event after will be taking place at 466 Stancil Road, Angier NC.
- Please understand that it is not a gathering all day there. Once you shoot your bird you are instructed to head to the office, get your scores, then plan to meet back there around 7 PM unless instructed otherwise.
- Please note that if it is raining we will still proceed forward and push everything inside at the trophy room.

ALL BIRDS BROUGHT TO THE SHOP PAST 7PM WILL NOT BE QUALIFIED
After the weigh-in, country music will begin around 7:00 PM, food will be provided during this time.
Awards will take place after dinner.
We will be at the office all day taking in and scoring the birds. Once you harvest your bird, you are expected to bring him to the office ASAP and we will have you fill out some information (tag number) (hunting license number etc) and proceed forward with the weigh in. PLEASE BRING YOUR HUNTING LICENSE NUMBER AND TAG NUMBER WITH YOU TO WEIGH-IN. THIS WILL BE RECORDED AND ATTACHED TO YOUR BIRD.
- Once you harvest your Turkey be sure to call Taytem and let her know you are on your way with the bird.
